James Michaels | Print |  E-mail

Born and raised in Merrit, British Columbia, James became interested in native art at the age of sixteen.  Through extensive travels in Western Canada as a self employed musician he was able to meet many different artists and observe their work.

In 1994 he was employed at a log home company acquiring experience with chisels and sharpening techniques.  He soon started carving and painting.

James became interested in Bent Cedar Boxes by the age of thirty.  Within a few months he was steaming and bending wood.  James has been an active member of the Penticton Metis Association since March 2000.
