Bentwood box

Bentwood boxes are made with red or yellow cedar (cypress). Dimensions are approximate. Made to order from a single plank, the wood is kerfed (cut) at very specific dimensions, allowing only a thin piece of wood to be steamed until pliable and then bent until the final two ends are pegged together.
